FECAVA Newsletter – December 2021

Dear FECAVA Family,

I was just talking with a colleague the other day about how quickly the year has passed.
An incredible range of emotions has been experienced by most of us in the last year. You may have had a fantastic year, or a rough one, or probably even a little bit of both.
I want to congratulate all FECAVA members and beyond on some excellent work in a various field of our profession! Details of 2021. FECAVA achievements can be easily accessed across FECAVA social media and network.

Maybe the dominant sentiment is that 2021 has been a year that we can’t wait to get over with, but I am sure we have emerged stronger and wiser as a profession. I hope that we will find a way to wrap up 2021 on a positive note, both personally and professionally.

Some careers took a blow, but at the same time there are new opportunities which helped many careers get a new lease of life. Those who chose to up-skill saw a plenty of choices and made the most of the time that otherwise is difficult to make for self-improvement.
It doesn’t matter whether it was to learn a new skill, change of career, a healthier lifestyle or even spend more time with your loved ones. We should count them as achievements because optimism and celebratory vibe are something we all need even more during the pandemic era.

While it is wise to acknowledge our failures, we should avoid focusing on them. Sometimes it is easier said than done.
There’s a lot we probably already have accomplished throughout our everyday work. But even if we feel we have only accomplished a little, that’s still something to be proud of. We should take time to appreciate all the hard work and effort we put in to achieving what we want for every patient we treat and every client we communicate with.
Remind yourself that most of the failures, especially in the last 2 years were fueled by unforeseen circumstances and not a lack of individual ability. Instead, let any failure become lessons on how to correct ourselves in the future.

After two years away, FECAVA congress will return live and face to face from June 8-11, 2022 in Prague. Delivering a recognizable style of learning with excellent CPD programe, and an industry exhibition – all under one roof. To use the words from our congress host:” The world will surely not be the same as we knew it, but much will remain. Certainly, the desire to meet and exchange not only knowledge and experience, but also friendly greetings with others who share the demanding but exciting profession of a small animal veterinarian, will not disappear from our lives.”
I’ve never been a New Year’s resolution person. We all know that Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. I don’t have any specific goal in mind for 2022 but what I do hope is that next year is a lot more settled than this one.
On behalf of FECAVA Board, I want to thank you all for putting the trust in our work together with each one of you for another 2-year period.
Happy every Festive Season across the Globe and hope to see you soon again!
