FECAVA Newsletter – April 2021
Dear colleagues,
World Veterinary Day was celebrated on April 24. It is an annual celebration of the veterinary profession with the theme »Veterinarian response to the COVID-19 crisis«. The continuing COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives significantly. As a profession, we can look at this period with pride in how we have managed to meaningfully and rapidly evolve by demonstrating veterinarians’ ability to cope, adjust, adapt. Also, we have continued our role as leaders of animal health and welfare and public health.
Together with the World Small Animal Association (WSAVA) and Polish Small Animal Veterinary Association, we managed to quickly adapt the Congress format to the virtual meeting last month, which exceeded all our expectations – and those of our delegates too! With 88 lectures in 50 streams, plenty of lively panel sessions, Q&A discussions, and a fantastic virtual exhibition, it’s just as well that delegates can access the sessions for another three months. Hence, they still have time to catch up on some of the great lectures they couldn’t join live! If you haven’t yet, it’s still time to register to access all Congress content by the end of June 2021.
During the congress, FECAVA Senior Vice President Wolfgang Dohne introduced the Collegiality infographic to complement the WSAVA/FECAVA Global Principles of Veterinary Collegiality launched earlier this year. The infographic and the Principles document references are available for free download from the WSAVA and FECAVA websites. Both have been translated into several languages with more to follow. The infographic can be customized by individuals, veterinary practices, and/or veterinary associations. We encourage its display in practices or on associations’ media platforms to show support for inclusivity, non-discrimination, and respect for all veterinary colleagues worldwide
We all look forward to meeting face to face next year – at the FECAVA Congress in Prague, which was postponed to June 8-11, 2022.
Until then – stay safe, stay healthy and stay connected.
