FECAVA Newsletter – January 2023
Dear Colleagues,
Here we are, with a New Year and a new opportunity to apply for one of FECAVA’s Scholarship programmes or to nominate the one outstanding colleague who has done so much for you or the veterinary community as a whole but who might have been overlooked all the time …
First to the scholarships:
FECAVA and our generous sponsors want to see you travelling in 2023 and want to see you enjoying international congresses and meeting your colleagues in other parts of Europe!
If you are a veterinary student at a European vet school and you are in the final years of your course, then applying for the FECAVA IVC Evidensia Veterinary Student Travel Scholarship is a must (don’t take it from me – just ask one of the lucky recipients of the previous years …). Organised by FECAVA and IVSA, the International Veterinary Student Association, the scholarship allows 10 students from different European countries free access (including all social event tickets!) to the forthcoming joint WSAVA FECAVA Congress in Lisbon from 27th-29th September 2023. In addition to this, all successful applicants will receive 350.- Euros to help with their travel and accommodation expenses. To find out how to apply, just visit the FECAVA website and with a little bit of luck, we will meet in September in Lisbon!
The FECAVA Laboklin Travel Scholarship is something for all hard-working veterinary professionals who want or who need to think outside the box …
Veterinary medicine is not only happening in your own country and this scholarship is giving you the opportunity to take a look at how veterinary work is done in other parts of Europe.
Do you want to visit an international conference but can’t afford it? You live in the countryside, but you want to find out what veterinary work looks like in one of Europe’s capitals? Have you always wanted to meet a foreign colleague in person after communicating online for years?
If you have ideas like these, then let us know about them and FECAVA, together with our partner Laboklin, might send you on your way, funding your plans with 1000 Euros!
The application process is now super simple: just provide us with proof of your membership in your national small animal veterinary association and a 30-sec video clip about yourself, your work, and your travel plans, and you might find yourself as one of the two annual recipients of this exciting scholarship.
Finally, the Didier Noel Carlotti Award is named after the person who was the founder of FECAVA and who became the organisation’s first president. The award honoring a European veterinary surgeon who – like Didier – brought together colleagues from different parts of our continent and who encouraged communication and the exchange of knowledge across borders. Do you know someone like this? .If you do, then take a closer look at the nomination rules at www.fecava.org/didier-noel-carlotti-award/ and your candidate might receive the award at the opening ceremony of the WSAVA FECAVA Congress in Lisbon.
As you can see, there is a lot to look forward to and to do as a FECAVA member in 2023.

With kind regards to you all
