FECAVA Newsletter – January 2024

13. février 2024

Dear FECAVA Community

In an effort to address the growing concerns around environmental sustainability within veterinary medicine, the FECAVA Sustainability Working Group is embarking on an initiative to understand and mitigate the ecological footprint of veterinary practices. The core of this initiative revolves around a keen awareness of the environmental impact, particularly focusing on the significant amount of waste produced daily and the release of anesthetic gases into the atmosphere during surgeries.

As professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of animals, we also bear a responsibility towards the planet. It’s with this spirit of stewardship that we extend an invitation to veterinary professionals across Europe to participate in a survey designed to assess our ecological footprint.

This effort requires a week of tracking the waste generated by your clinic, a small gesture with the potential for a substantial positive impact. Your contribution will not only help in gathering crucial data but also in shaping sustainable practices that can significantly reduce our environmental impact.

We aim to collect insights from at least 100 veterinary professionals, which will enable us to achieve meaningful statistical insights and develop targeted strategies for a greener future. By participating, you’re not just contributing to a study; you’re joining a movement toward creating a sustainable future for veterinary medicine.

To take part in this pivotal survey, please visit our survey link. We also encourage you to watch our informative video at this link for a better understanding of the project.

Thank you for dedicating your practice to not only the care of animals but also the health of our planet. Together, we can make a difference.

Sincerely yours,
FECAVA
